Who Is Frank Benjamin & Why I Start This Blog?

Welcome to Odds On Betting.  This blog is my attempt to spread the word of responsible sports betting, or sports investing.  Most sports bettors practice recreational sports betting.  But that doesn’t mean it can’t be a profitable hobby.

I have gone from a losing bettor to a profitable sports investor by following the simple principles of sports investing.  I believe any sports bettor can become a profitable bettor.

Confessions of a Profitable Sports Investor

I always had an interest in gambling.  I don’t know when it started or how, but I remember gathering at the money wheel at my church’s summer carnival.  Even back then, I was trying to find a strategy to limit my losses while maximizing risk.

However, it wasn’t until college that started visiting the OTB about 45 minutes from campus.  Even at 18-20 years of age, I was practicing responsible gambling.  I left my ATM card at home and only took the money I had to gamble that day.  If I exhausted that money, my day was over.

A few years later, I had a friend that knew a guy and started betting on NFL and NCAA Football game.

Sure, I won some, but I was mostly losing and paying my debts with cash advances.  After these losing years, I realized that my betting strategy was less than optimal.

I began an endless search online for successful betting strategy and joined a few sports forums.  This is when my education in sports investing began.  In one year, I went from losing on a weekly basis, to having a wad of cash on my dresser.

The best part of this was that I wasn’t stressing about losing – in fact, I didn’t have to win.  I was practicing the principles of sports investing and increased my bankroll from making bets of $50 to $100.

My Betting Style

I am rather conservative when it comes to betting – at least I think so.  I don’t play many parlays, teasers or other exotics.  I will often place a few futures before the preseason and look to hedge a little as the season comes to a close if necessary.

When it comes to handicapping, I love breaking down the number.  I dive into the stats.  I do my own math in an attempt to put each team on equal footing and compare apples to apples.

My success is due to the hours I put into my picks and because I follow the principles of sports investing.  As long as a sports betting can successfully pick 55% of your plays, I believe he can be a profitable sports investor.

The Bettor’s Guide to Sports Investing

After a few years of profiting from following the principle of sports investing, I began writing a betting guide, The Bettor’s Guide to Sports Investing.

I released the guide and sold it on a website that I built by myself.  The book gained popularity and I began learning more about website design.  I longed to build a site that was a free resource for the online sports bettor.  There were plenty of forums, I wanted to do something else.  After a few different designs, I settled on this blogs, Odds On Betting.

During seven years that I sold The Bettor’s Guide to Sports Investing, I had only one return – and that was because of download link wasn’t working.  However, I have decided that my betting guide is to valuable to actually sell.  It is over 40 pages of great sports betting information, that I am doing a disservice by selling it.

To go along with the new this new blog, I changed the book to a free guide that anyone can download.
